Mélanzé Project

AgroVoiceS

Turning research into documentaries, stories, images and public dialogue around agroecology in Senegal.

AgroVoiceS

AgroVoiceS extends existing agroecology research in Senegal through public translation work. The project turns a strong scientific base into accessible, sensitive and shareable forms that can reach communities, youth, media and decision spaces.

Overview

AgroVoiceS works as an agora of stories and discussion. It circulates documentary and editorial materials to make questions of social justice, agricultural production and food sovereignty more visible.

What the project sets in motion

  • A long-form documentary intended for public circulation and dialogue between Senegal, Switzerland and other partners.
  • Participatory videos and short formats developed with local communities, especially with women and young people.
  • A photo essay, a book and a mobile exhibition so that the stories can travel across several formats.
  • Presence in events, media and discussion platforms to extend the materials beyond their first release.

Partners and current status

GIUB - University of Bern leads the project and carries its scientific anchoring. Mélanzé carries the editorial dimension, the making of the book and part of the dissemination, with the aim of extending the life of the outputs beyond the project itself. AgroVoiceS is fully funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), with CREATE for the scientific frame.
